Fashion Night Out + Giveaway

Hi loves,

Happy Monday! Are you guys ready for a new week? I feel this weekend not only was relaxing, but I was able to get a little more organize in my life. The kids started school last week and well it has been a little hectic trying to get back to our normal routine. I think we all are still in summer vaca mode.

I also wanted to thank you all who enter my 1 year anniversary giveaway, as well as all those that comment ♥, super sweet! Our winner is KV!! And I am beyond happy to share this with her!

This past Thursday I attend Fashion Night Out, provided by Family Friends Future, Inc. to help raise money and support Alzheimer Awareness. My grandmother was a victim of Alzheimer and while working in the medical filed in the past, I got to know many lovely individuals who unfortuanlly had this disease. Most of us may had come in contact with an individual who has had/have Alzheimer’s disease and I think its safe to say it has broken our hearts one way or another. To see someone grow through this, knowing there is no cure or those who have a love one going through this is so heart breaking!

I think Family Friends Future, Inc. did a great job at hosting this event. There were vendors, drinks, sweets, food, and great exhibitors; some old to me and other new!

I’ve talked about these ladies before, Bella V Mobile Boutique… shopping in a truck, I mean come on….. what’s better than that? I LOVE them and their style was right on point for fall!

22 Shades of Grey was definitely new to me. Me being Melissa, automatically thought of 50 shades of grey lol, I was wrong. Nonetheless, I was very impress with her clothing line. Everything shown and in her boutique is hand made by Peggy herself, if that won’t impress anyone, I don’t know what would!

Last but not least was MArEle Boutique. This boutique was right up my alley….. New York City Style, yet very wearable! Can’t wait to stop by their store again!

I can’t wait to attend their next show next year. Also, apologies for no pics of the runway, I was too busy figuring out what I was going to buy.

And of course a little selfie to end the night!

Can you believe we are doing another giveaway!!! I know! I am co-hosting a$300 Nordstrom giveaway with Liz from Shopping My Closet!!!!!! Liz has amazing style and even with a baby on the way, it has not stopped her from looking fabulous. I am so excited for you guys! After all that back to school shopping we did for our kids, now its time to do a little shopping of our own!

I hope you all have an amazing week and go enter down below! Also, don’t forget to show some love to the other great bloggers part of this giveaway. Talk to ya soon!

Fashion Night Out Albany – A fundraising event for Alzheimer’s disease

I had the pleasure of speaking with Paige D’Anna the other day and got to hear a little bit more about Fashion Night Out Albany, and also the story of her grandmother and why she is passionate about supporting the Alzheimer’s Association.  I’m really excited to be attending this event on 9/12 and hope many of you will join me!

Have you ever lost someone and really felt like you lost a part of yourself? That’s how I felt when I lost my grandmother, Viola Yanas, who passed away on August 1, 2011 from Alzheimer’s disease. I, with my family, watched this disease rob this amazing woman, not just of her memories, but ultimately of her life. It was epically sad to watch! For those of you who are familiar with or have been directly impacted by Alzheimer’s disease you know that you lose your loved one twice, first to the disease and second to death.

After losing my grandmother, I felt this strong need to stay connected to her and honor her at the same time. So I joined the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s and volunteer when I can with the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York.

Alzheimer’s disease is the #6 leading cause of death. It is the largest under-funded public health threat today! What is worse, it is a growing epidemic. Scary fact isn’t it! Scary, yes. Impossible to end, no! Together we really can change that! Together, we can find a cure!

This year, with the help of my friend, Abby Coufal (Albany Style), we are putting on a fundraising event that will be held on an annual basis to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease locally, here in the Capital Region.

Join us for our FIRST Annual Fashion Night Out, Albany! Thursday, September 12, 2013. Fashion Night Out, Albany will be held at Taste in Downtown Albany from 7pm – 10pm. Walk the purple carpet, enjoy light appetizers, cash bar, raffles and see all the latest trends during the fashion show.  Advance tickets are available for purchase here.   ALL proceeds will be directly donated to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York.
